Retired & Semi-Retired Adults

Who We Are and What We Do

ReGeneration Team

Our Leadership Team chose the name ReGeneration because,                                                ReGeneration means: the work of Christ in a believer’s life.  God moving and working and bringing about something new in a person.  It is a lifelong process of God molding and working.  At El Bethel we believe in the power of God and His ability to work in people’s lives no matter their age.  We know that power because we have lived in the power of Christ and He has given us a testimony, a story of His power and love working in us.  God’s word in Psalm 71.18 says,  “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.”  The ReGeneration Group wants to offer ways for the Retired and Semi-Retired in our church family to be Christ followers who help others follow Christ.  As a team we are mobilizing mature Christians to fulfill the Great Commission.

We do this in 5 different ways:

Missions, Outreach/Evangelism, Discipleship/Spiritual Growth, Visitation/Member Care & Fellowship:  Below you will see exactly how the ReGeneration Group offers ways for seniors to get involved, grow spiritually, and declare the power of God to the next generation!

1.  Missions

We plan and promote Mission Projects and Mission Trips.  We work hand in hand with the Brotherhood and WMU.

 In 2019/20 The ReGeneration Group
  •  ReGeneration Group partnered with the EBBC Sunday School classes and collected money for several Sundays.  Together we were able to feed 5 Families in the Oak Hill Community a full Thanksgiving Meal!
  • Placed over 30 Monthly flyers about our church in the BackPack Buddies Food Distribution bags at Table Rock Middle School
  • Assisted the KidMin and packed baggies for Trunk or Treat with information about Christ to our Community

2.  Outreach/Evangelism

We plan strategies, events, and programs to reach all ages of our community.  We work hand-in-hand with other groups in our church for the purpose of outreach and evangelism.

In 2019/20 The ReGeneration Group
  • Joined in the promotion of Revival by placing postcards in each Sunday School class for members to invite someone who did not know Christ to Revival.
  • Placed flyers into the BackPack Buddies Food Distribution bags about the Community Wide Thanksgiving meal and service
  • Helped with Chili Night a KidMin Sponsored Event that reached out to our Awana Families.

3.  Discipleship/Spiritual Growth

We plan, organize, and implement ongoing discipleship and mentoring opportunities for our mature adults to minister to our younger adults, youth, and children.  We Schedule conferences, retreats, concerts, and events, catered to the spiritual growth of retired and semi-retired adults.

In 2019/20 The ReGeneration Group
  • Held a weekly Bible Study every Monday.  Studies included “Time of Your Life” by Andy Stanley, and “Perfect Love” by Lisa Harper.  We utilized the Right Now Media offered by the church and spent an hour every Monday delving into God’s Word.
  • We began planning and praying for ways that the Retired and Semi-Retired of EBBC could minister to the youth. Work began with the current Student Pastor, who was excited to have the Senior Adult/Student Ministry Connection!
  • Promoted the Decision America October 10th Event by Franklin Graham and drove the van down to the event.

4.  Visitation and Member Care

We help the pastoral team by organizing regularly scheduled visitation of shut-ins, nursing home and hospital patients.  We help the pastoral team by making visits to new members and guests for the purpose of assimilation into the church family.  We help the pastoral team by relaying any prayer request and the needs of follow up visitation.

In 2019/2020 The ReGeneration Visitation Group
  • Sent 32 Cards, made 60 visits and numerous phone calls to our 15 shut-ins during the time of Oct.-Feb
  • In the month of December the ReGen Visitation Group did an all hands on deck effort to visit all the Shut-ins during the month of December and present them with a Christmas gift!  We also took treat bags to shut-ins and seniors who were unable to get one during the Christmas Festivities.
  • In the month of February the ReGen Visitation Group took Valentine treats to the shut-ins and reminded them that we can mail weekly bulletins and get copies of sermons for them to still feel a part of the services, even when they cannot attend.
  • Since Covid 19 hit we have sent well over 100 cards to our Retired and Semi-Retired group as well text messages and phone calls since we are not allowed to visit.
  • In August, the ReGenereation Team joined in with the pastor and deacons in getting the Lord’s Supper elements out to the shut-ins and those who are unable to make it to the in-person service at the church.

5.  Fellowship (Starting 2021)

We will plan a monthly fellowship through daytrips, meals, picnics, etc… and begin to offer overnight trips for our Retired and Semi-Retired group here at EBBC.

We understand that we may have to be creative in offering a fellowship during a pandemic, but we are up for the challenge and we are excited to gather again soon!  We will be following Covid 19 Guidelines set by our State.

A Place for You to Serve!

At El Bethel we know that Senior Adults want to be involved in ministry.  How do we know this?  Because the Retired Generation of El Bethel Baptist Church are the ones you find pouring into the church with their time, talents, and gifts that God has given them.  The Semi-Retired and Retired Generation are the workers who want to minister, reach out and impact the world around them.   So, if you find yourself in the Retired and Semi-Retired age group and you are longing for a place to serve then please join us!
